To answer your question, Legionaires defensively and Sturgians offensively seem to be the gotos for Heavy Infantry. Heavy infantry (Heavily armored with 1-handers and Shields) are generally going to be safer than Shock Troopers (2-Handers) especially when facing down projectiles and in some cases cavalry as the Heavy infantry also tend to come with spears/pikes to deal with cavs but when used ...30 infantry, 50 archers, 70 horse archers, 50 cavalry for a cavalry focused army. 80 Infantry, 100 archers, 20 cavalry for factions without horse archers if youre using faction troops only. Right now I have battanian nobles going into infantry groups instead of archers and battanian skirmishers also go into groups where the prefered equipment are different from theirs. For example my 1st group is infantry that wears heavy armor, shield and polearm. Battanian noble archers goes to this group for some reason even tho I have an archer group with an archer companion leading it.
